A downloadable game

In the year 30XX, technology has made space travel an accessible feat. However, the legacy of planet Xydonia's inhabitants still remains a mystery to this day. Countless adventurers and opportunists ventured in search of the remains of this ancient civilization and its homeworld, but none of them lived to tell the tale.

Now it's your turn to uncover Xydonia's coordinates and reach for the ultimate goal, which could be eternal life, infinite knowledge or a sealed, limited edition copy of that shmup from 19XX!

XYDONIA is an old school arcade horizontal shoot 'em up, inspired by the Japanese milestones of the genre, such as R-Type, Gradius and Darius. Our goal is to bring you a game that looks, sounds and feels exactly like one of those classics, but retaining its own identity at the same time.

The game is currently being developed by a small team of 3 arcade junkies and has reached alpha stage.

A Kickstarter campaign is now live. Support us to help making this shmup dream come true!

The arcade was my Mecca when I was a kid. Hell, in some ways, it still is.

XYDONIA takes me back to my childhood experiences as an arcade junkie and a pinball wizard.

The gameplay blows me away as being as close to true to real arcade performance as possible. Even on an XBox One controller, the game controls and feels like I'm behind an arcade cabinet. Hey, if you make enough money on the Kickstarter, you should build an arcade cabinet build of this!

Graphically, it's absolutely beautiful. It's impossible to truly emulate the CRT experience, but y'all do an incredible job making this look as close to the real thing as possible. The same thing goes with the soundtrack.

In the end, XYDONIA's come a long away from an already amazing alpha a few months ago. It's going to be interesting how much higher y'all set the bar as they continue production on this game.

Seems like great game but if its not WASD movement i can't play any game

some kind of button config would be nice or just add WASD option

Just discovered this game today and loving it so far, really excited to try out some new ships and levels. One of the best hori shmups i have played in years keeping my eye out for an updated version.

Keep up the good work guys.

I had to comment as this game is just stunning on every level! I'm a big retro arcade shoot 'em up fan (I collect old arcade cabs and PCBs) and I can't recall the last shoot 'em up to feel like a true 90's arcade classic. You've nailed it on every level. Like the person below, I came here searching for a way of donating money to the project or finding a way of paying for the game but I see you have a Kickstarter coming which is great news indeed. Consider me a backer and someone that will spread the word around!

Good luck with your continued development, I can't wait to see more of this game!

Thank you very much! We're working very hard in order to make a game that looks, sounds and feels as close to the arcade classics as possible, so we're always very pleased to get this kind of feedback from retrogamers. We're about to complete a new demo build, which we're going to release very soon. We'll soon announce the Kickstarter's launch date as well, so keep an eye on our social pages!

Fantastic, I'll keep my eyes peeled! Good luck!

Xydonia seems super awesome! Just played the alpha! I have been looking a shmup EXACTLY like this so thank you for answering to my wishes <3

How can I throw money at your way, should I feel the urge to do so? Also, if I may inquire, how early or late you are currently on the game? THANKS! YOU ARE GREAT PEOPLE FOR DOING THIS.

Thanks! One of the main reasons we started doing this was having exactly the same wish, so we ended up making it ourselves! We're doing our best and we're always happy to see you guys so excited by our work!

If you want to support us, there will be a way to do so very soon, as we are setting up a crowdfunding campaign that will be launched in the next months. This will give us the chance to fully focus on the game and speed up its development, which is advancing steadily, but currently has to coexist with whatever we do to pay our bills. :)

Anyway, feel free to follow us on Twitter/Facebook if you're interested in our progress!

Thanks for the quick reply! Good to hear you are making steady progress! I can tell by playing Xydonia that this is coming straight from your hearts. You got 1 backer here ;)

Linux version!? :/

The game is being developed for Windows first, but we will consider porting it to Linux and Mac too. :)

Made a video

Thanks, we appreciate!

How do I open rar files?

use 7zip to open this file or win rar also can open this types of file

Looks absolutely awesome! Great job!

Great demo! the art style is really nice and retro. the two characters are cool. Suggestion add a difficulty option so it's more accommodating for younger players.

Thanks! Yes, we will probably add something regarding the difficulty, but the game will still remain tough to beat. :)
